The focus of the present study was to find out which native plants were most suited for soil bio-engineering purposes, particularly in the realization 5 of riverbank protection. Furthermore, we have also been aiming at economic efficiency. In the context of sustainable watershed management, these techniques seem to be appropriate , especially in underdeveloped countries. Concerning the plants to be used, we considered three native species, Gliricidia Sepium, Cordia dentata and Jatropha curcas, to be appropriate for this type of work. Economically speaking, the low cost of 10 such interventions in underdeveloped countries, has been shown by the construction of riverbank protection using vegetated crib-walls in Nicaragua.

Soil is a vital parameter for planting design in urban green spaces especially in adverse climate conditions. In this study, the utilization of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) in surveying land suitability for urban green space from measured criteria like suitability indices, including physical (i.e. clay, silt, sand, bulk density, penetration resistance), chemical (i.e. electrical conductivit...

Abstract. Rangelands are mainly used for grazing the livestock in Iran, it is essential to specify grazing suitability of rangelands in each region of country, so that it may improve the management policies and approaches for planning and designing current and future plans. The aim of this research was to determine the rangeland suitability for sheep grazing in the watershed of Sadegh Abad, Ker...

Introduction: Rangelands constitute almost 52 percent of the country area computed as 164 million ha. The extent of rangelands has been estimated 84 million ha in Iran and they have been classified as good, moderate to poor and poor to very poor ones ranged as almost 10, 42 and 48 percent, respectively. One of the fundamental problems concerning land uses of rangelands is that Rangeland are not...
